First Meeting Between URINDO and Pidu District, Chengdu Province Heralds New Start

Jakarta, Pantausidang – The audience (meeting) of the delegation of Pidu District People’s government, China and Rector of Indonesian Respati University (URINDO), Prof. Dr. Cicilia Windiyaningsih, SKM., M.Kes, dean of agriculture faculty, Reni Nurjasmi and members of academic staff, is seen as successful as the ambience of deeper cooperation occurs.

The audience was also attended by students of URINDO’s agrotechnology study program, and some alumni. Mr. Ye Mao, deputy district director of Pidu, Chengdu greeted Prof. Cicilia Windiyaningsih and all attendees when delivering the speech, appreciating the spirit of working together to establish new cooperation.

“Here, on behalf of the district government, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the leaders, academic members, students who are attending (the audience),” said Mr. Ye Mao.

The audience was held in the auditorium of URINDO’s campus C, which is located in the area of Bambu Apus, Cipayung district, east Jakarta. The audience took place around two hours, and ended with a photo session among the delegation and all attendees. Besides that, Mr. Ye Mao wishes that Prof. Cicilia and the academic staff would visit Chengdu someday.

“Chengdu opens out of the nine heavens, and thousands of veins and streams come from the source. In Chengdu, the land of abundance in Sichuan, there is an ancient but young city – Pidu,” said Ye Mao, accompanied by another three delegate members; Mrs. Zhu Xiaoyan, Mr. Sun Huaiju and Mr. Zhao Dong during a two days visit to Jakarta, Indonesia.

In 2016, it was removed from the county and established as a district. It covers an area of 438 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 1.39 million. It is the source of farming civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the birthplace of Chinese farmhouse tourism.

It is known as the hometown of Douban, Sichuan embroidery and bonsai. Located in the core area of Dujiangyan Essence Irrigation Area, it is a place with good winds and water in Chengdu. Since ancient times, “floods and droughts follow people, but they don’t know about famine,” said Mr. Ye Mao.
