Preventing Brain Tumors at Early Times

TCH’s General Seminar

Jakarta, pantausidang – Tzu Chi hospital (TCH)’s team of doctors voiced the slogan; prevention is better than cure in the event of working together to improve control of brain tumor, in which the cases increase significantly in Indonesia. the slogan and the effort made to control come hand in hand with Indonesia’s health sector development, including TCH which has just successfully organized a general seminar on the topic ‘Know the Signs and Symptoms, Do Not Ignore Disorders affecting Brain and Nerves.’ The seminar lasted around two and half hours, attended by 500 (five hundred) participants including healthcare professionals such doctors, pharmacists, and nurses.

“An occurrence of slipped disc, also called a prolapsed or herniated disc, the patient might not be late in preventing. The signs affecting area of the human body, is not actually an occurrence of slipped disc itself, but the prevention is made starting from the smallest. Patients should not feel afraid when being examined (checked). If brain tumor signs can be identified at early times, it is actually better than never (taking prevention),” said the medical director of TCH, doctor Suriyanto when delivering keynote speech at the seminar
In 2020, approximately 308.102 individuals worldwide were diagnosed with a primary malignant brain tumor.

The worldwide incidence rate was 5.57 per 100,000 population. The cases in Indonesia is quite significant, and some die from a malignant brain tumor.

“Therefore the seminar, discussing about brain and nerve, realizing that signs occur from anythings. The seminar is worth attending, giving benefits. The participants may share with neighbours, family members who may need to know. We wish we are getting healthier. TCH is thankful as we have good opportunity to contribute to the people in the event of preventing brain tumor,” said doctor Suriyanto.

Meanwhile, senior director of TCH Prof. Satyanegara said that a joint effort should be made among stakeholders to improve public health quality by preventing brain tumor.
